Nova Sagittarii 2011 n°2 (V5588 Sgr)

 


Discovered by Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume, Japan, and Fujio Kabashima, Miyaki, Japan, at magnitude 11.7 on two unfiltered CCD frames taken around March 27.832 UT.

Position: RA = 18m10m21.35s , Dec: -23°05'30.6" (equinox 2000.0) - see IAU CBET #2672.

April 2.114, 2011 observation

Setup: Celestron 11 telescope (0.28-m diameter) + LISA spectrograph (sampling = 2.1 A/pixel - R = 600 - 50 microns slit) + QSI583 CCD camera (5.4 microns pixel - bin. 1x1).
Observatory: Castanet Tolosan (France)

Note: The object is very low above the horizon (H=14°, air mass=4.08) - Atmospheric absorption is corrected.

V mag. = 13.2 (source AAVSO)
Exposure: 9 x 300 sec.
